It's a big weekend for April Hunter as she takes part in the Junior Nationals Bodybuilding championships on June 18th and 19th.  April qualified for this after placing in the top three of her class in her last show but since then injury has hampered her build-up as she explains.

"I had to qualify for the jr nats by placing in the top 3 of my class on my last show. I did that in Figure Tall and right when I decided to go on to compete in Jrs, I partially tore my quad tendon(wrestling). Its been miserable. Couldn't even get up and down or walk my dogs without pain. Like, crying kind of pain. Tears. That's just not me. I got a cortisone shot, which allows me to get around but am still in pain. Can't do cardio or weights for my legs, I could tear the tendon completely. So I'm doing contest prep with just diet which is hard. Normally I do cardio 2x a day. Npw I'm on calorie deficit instead and super flaky and tired because of it. I normally take in 1800-2000 cals a day. I'm down to 1100-1400 and still working out intensely. Lean protein, green veggies and rice is pretty much it for 10 weeks, 6x a day. I'd like to heal up and continue a career in fitness...I think there's a good future in fitness. For now, I just hope I do well at the jrs. I did all I could!@
